What our
members had to say !
"My lesson was great. He explained how to work
a melodic motif stepwise thru the changes. A
concept that I have not attempted before (at
least not on purpose!). We also discussed
phrasing and how thinking about how horn players
phrase; leaving space for breathing. I liked
his metaphor about a Baptist minister's speech
rhythms. Repetitive until it's predictable,
then it changes. He suggested I work on Charlie
Parker heads (song melodies) for a better
understanding of how bebop lines flow. All good
stuff I can certainly benefit from!"
"Good clinic and show. Very modern approach to
arrangements and chord harmonization. During my
lesson he was very patient and understanding
with where you were as a player. He was very
willing to acknowledge that he wasn't born
playing the way he does and had to learn it and
is still learning like we all are, and should be
through this journey."
"I thought Andrew’s playing was very smart and
hip, cool angular phrases, very cool chord subs,
fun arrangements of standards. So sorry I had to
miss the clinic and couldn’t take a lesson, but
at least I got hear the gig! I think Andrew
rounded out our exposure to great guitarists
very nicely with his unique approach."
