Past Artists- David Eastlee ( June, 2007)

What our members had to say !

"David's presentation on the history of Jazz in general and bebop in particular was well researched and documented.  His handout was like a jazz history textbook. and of course he can play all the lines he talks about."

Clinic: “Playing Bebop Lines”

David Eastlee, who was born in Rochester, Minnesota and grew up in nearby Kasson and then Seattle, Washington. He first started playing guitar when he was twelve. Originally interested in the rock groups of the era, Eastlee was soon investigating their roots. "I explored the earlier black blues masters who had inspired the rock players, and the blues led me to jazz."

A professional at fifteen, Eastlee started teaching when he was nineteen. Since moving to Los Angeles in 1977, he has played at hundreds of jam sessions and with scores of bands over the past couple decades, immersing himself in straightahead jazz while being inspired and learning from Ron Eschete, Don Mock, Joe Diorio and the late Howard Roberts.
